How to accept Christ

What it means to be saved or to become a Christian?

Picture a swimmer who has gone out into deep water and is drowning. She cries out to the lifeguard to save her. The lifeguard rushes to where she is, picks her up in her helpless condition and takes her to shore. The lifeguard has saved her from drowning.

Or, imagine a man who is trapped in a burning building and is quickly being overcome by smoke. He sees a firefighter coming toward him and cries out for help. The firefighter picks him up in his helpless condition and takes him out of the building. The firefighter saved him from perishing in the fire.

In the same way, God has provided each one of us a Savior, Jesus Christ, who is able to rescue every sinner who trusts in Him. No matter what you’ve done, He can save you!

The physical consequence of sin is physical death, that is not the only kind of death that results from sin.

All sin is ultimately committed against an eternal and infinite God (Psalm 51:4). Because of that, the just penalty for our sin is also eternal and infinite. What we need is to be saved from eternal destruction (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:15).

One of the most famous scriptures is John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John continues: “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (verse 17).

Because the just penalty for sin is infinite and eternal, only God could pay the penalty, because only He is infinite and eternal.

But God, in His divine nature, could not die. So God became a human being in the person of Jesus Christ. God took on human flesh, lived among us, and taught us. When the people rejected Him and His message, and sought to kill Him, He willingly sacrificed Himself for us, allowing Himself to be crucified (John 10:15). Because Jesus Christ was human, He could die; and because Jesus Christ was God, His death had an eternal and infinite value. Jesus’ death on the cross was the perfect and complete payment for our sin (1 John 2:2).

How can I be saved?" deals with where we will spend eternity after our lives in this world are over. There is no more important issue than our eternal destiny.

Thankfully, the Bible is abundantly clear on how a person can be saved. The Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas, “Sir, what must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30). Paul and Silas responded, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31).

If you want to be Forgiven of your Sins and believe in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God and can forgive your sins and give you Eternal Life.

I invite you to stop where you are and pray to God (Our Heavenly Father) through and in the name of Jesus. Ask Jesus to enter you heart and life, to cleanse you, and to forgive you. Invite the Holy Spirit in to change your heart and guide your life.

If you prayed this prayer we would love to pray with you. Now What do you do?   Text or call Pastor AJ at 302-259-1740 for prayers or more information.
